For the seventh year in a row, 38 beautiful bridge baskets were hung by the Elizabethtown-Lewis Chamber of Commerce just in time for Memorial Day.

The flower baskets were planted in March at Rivermede Farm in Keene and were ready in time for the holiday.

The cost of the baskets and flowers is paid for from the Lewis and Elizabethtown area Chamber of Commerce members and supporters. The work of hanging the baskets was done by Chamber officers Bruce Pushee, Evelyn Hatch and Maggie Bartley with a great deal of help from town board member Bill Wright and other volunteers.

After a year without baskets on Fisher Bridge (at the East end of River St.) due to road and bridge reconstruction by the NYS DOT, the floral decorations have returned. However, new hanging brackets were needed to fit the larger railings. In just a few days, Bill Wright was able to fabricate new hangers.

The flowers will be watered by volunteers from Mountain Lakes Services and will remain up until the frost arrives in the fall.
