Elizabethtown and Lewis - the original "Pleasant Valley" - are located at the heart of the 6-million acre Adirondack Park, the largest forest preserve in the continental United States, on the Boquet River, at the base of Hurricane and Giant Mountains. Cobble Hill Golf Course

One of the oldest golf courses in America, created in 1896, the course offers nine challenging holes ringed with majestic pines and spectacular mountain views. Located at the juncture of Rt. 9N and Rt. 9 in Elizabethtown.

The Adirondack History Center Museum
& Colonial Garden

Operated by the Essex County Historical Society, the museum features three floors of exhibits focusing on the history, social, and military background of the Adirondack area.  Located on Court Street, Elizabethtown.

The Colonial Garden provides visitors a beautiful display of color with formal beds of annuals and perennials, all maintained by the Essex County Adirondack Garden Club.  Located at the rear of the Adirondack History Center Museum, the gardens are adjacent to Hand Ave. in Elizabethtown.

The Hand-Hale Historic District

Designated in 1979, the District is located on both sides of River Street in the hamlet of Elizabethtown and features the stately homes and offices of two prominent families in the annals of state and national law. The gracious white frame Hale House which dates from 1818 is located on the north side of the Boquet River and was residence of Judge Robert S. Hale. On the south side of the Boquet River, the brick Greek Revival structure was built by Judge Augustus C. Hand in 1849. He was the grandfather of Learned and Augustus N. Hand, the eminent justices of the U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals.

The Blueberry Hill Trail System encompasses over 800 acres in the heart of the Adirondack Park and provides more than 30 miles of marked trails. The “Lean-To,” located at the top of the Hill provides shelter while enjoying the spectacular views of the surrounding area. Click HERE for a map of the trail system, or you can pick one up at the Elizabethtown Town Hall. This is a wilderness area. Please come prepared with map, compass and proper clothing.
